If Princess Jasmine was your favorite cartoon character as a child, and you had her dolls and wore her costume as a child for Halloween, you can relive these moments again, thanks to the world’s most famous designers. You can now walk down the street wearing Princess Jasmine’s harem pants with confidence knowing that you’re trendy and daring without using Halloween as an excuse to be a princess.
Harem pants were one of a number of trends that are here to stay from the fall. In the fall, avant-garde of fashion showed off and wore the pants with confidence. The rest of us now can wear them this season risk-free.

Ralph Lauren, Chloe, Miss Sixty, McQueen, Betsy Johnson, YSL, Salvatore Ferragamo, Alexander Wang and others were inspired by the traditional Hindu and Arab dress this spring.
Ralph Lauren’s spring collection had the hottest gold harem pants that take extra courage to wear but if worn, promise to look fabulous.

Burberry, Alexander Wang and bebe had a simpler adaptation of the saggy pants that is less risky and not so baggy.

The saggy pants are originally a Middle Eastern ensemble. French couturier Paul Poiret was inspired by the Orient in the early 20th century and created his version of the harem pants in an evening outfit. By designing the comfortable pants for European women, he helped them get rid of the painful and hard-to-breathe-in corsets they were used to wearing.

MC Hammer rocked the pants in the mid ‘80s and early ‘90s. Hammer is still associated with the pants style till today.
Rihanna, Britney, Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lopez, Rachel Roy are all fans of the Arabian pants.

If Rihanna is wearing them, maybe it’s a trend to be considered!
In case you’re worried about not looking appealing in the saggy pants, you can always go for the less “costumie” version of the pants and go with a slimmer style.
When shopping, look for materials like chiffon, georgette or any soft material for comfort. H&M and Forever21 have a variety in color and length of the cropped pants. They also have reasonable prices compared to other stores. Wet Seal also sells the cropped pants for only $20.
There are many colors available in stores, but it’s suggested to go with black since the style is dramatic enough.
Caution: this trend is only for gutsy fashionistias!
