Apparently American Idol isn’t the only venue in which aspiring artists can be judged by a jury of their peers in hopes of breaking into the music industry. The Radio One “Be Legendary” Contest gives musicians a platform to show what they can do and vie for a live performance with a Grammy-Award winning artist.

In honor of the release of his single “Everybody Knows”, John Legend is holding a contest to help aspiring artists. Unsigned artists are encouraged to take the lyrics to the single and create a version of the song with their own original music. Those without instrumental abilities can sing an acapella version of the song for submission. The winner of the contest gets two tickets to a John Legend concert with airfare and hotel included and their big break - a chance to perform on stage with the artist.

Judging will be done by online voters. By logging on to the OurStage website, Legend fans can submit votes for their favorite original compositions. Each battle judged by a fan is entry into a separate contest, granting the winner a chance to meet with the Grammy Award winning artist backstage at a local concert.

Submission and voting is open for the entire month of March. A winner will be selected by John Legend on April 14th. Interested artists and fans can enter online at the OurStage website.
