Grand prize winner Porsche Smith hails from Dallas, TX. The 25 year-old California native is a singer/songwriter and producer who has been compared to some of soul music’s biggest vocalists including Roberta Flack and D’Angelo. Smith boasts her ability to move across musical genres, “I’ve got songs and lyrics in my repertoire for the likes of Mary Mary and Maroon 5, “ she says. Her 12-track solo debut album About Life was released independently in mid-February of 2007.
Wil Guice (rhymes with “dice”) is not your average writer, vocalist or entertainer. The Bean City, Ohio native grew up with male role models on TV and records such as Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, Donny Hathaway and Stevie Wonder. Other musical influences include Gladys Knight, Diana Ross, Run DMC, Biggie Smalls and Babyface. Guice relocated to Phildadelphia to make a name for himself in the local music scene while polishing his skills as an artist.
Nashville’s own Michael Logen is an independent artist blending elements of pop, folk and rock. He spends much of his time traveling throughout the US and Europe touring as a solo artists and sometimes with a full band. His debut album Things I Failed to Mention is co-produced by Joe West (Jewel, Justin Timberlake) and Chris Farren (Dave Matthews, Johnny Cash) with a guest appearance by recording artist Jill Phillips.
