Pink sang, "If God is a DJ, then Life is a dance floor." Freelance videographer Vixon John shows the world that life is a movie; write the script and roll the credits.
Vixon John knows how to the work in front and behind the camera. On his video blogsite, or vlog if you will, his opening theme video pretty much says it all. His strong passion for writing and filmmaking led him experience with his creative forces. A Brooklyn native, John recently finished his degree at SUNY New Paltz studying journalism and black studies. He aspires to be a filmmaker who makes short films about things that make “too much sense.“
In his latest short film, All By My Conscious Self, the story focuses on a young man (John) who is struggling between the forces of good and bad as his conscious sides (also John) persuade him in his decision making. Some parts come off as funny but, he successfully portrays the realness of what we, as humans, decide for ourselves on a daily basis.

The coolest thing about this concept was how long, or how little, time he took to get it all done. Another great short film he did, First Day, deals with the anxieties of a young woman who is preparing for her first day of college. Just like the Conscious short film, this short film turns worries into positivity as the young woman eases smoothly into her transition.

John was and is involved in much more than video production. He dabbled into some audio production, radio journalism and was a staff writer of his college’s newspaper and magazine. A sweet man with a corny sense of humor and ambitious visions, John can be described as an okay dude, who like to joke about things making “too much sense.“ In other words, he likes to challenge others by thinking outside the box and not taking the hype for what is really is. His dedication to his work moved him to start making a difference in his city home. John is in the process of trying to start a magazine in his community, similar to the one he wrote (and still writes for) at New Paltz, the Fahari-Libertad.
Nothing is more empowering to the soul than seeing a person doing something that he (or she) loves to do. John states his purpose on his blog profile with nothing more or less, “I’m not trying to be the next Spike Lee ... I’m not a sexy model. I’m just Video Vixon!“
