If I was a RichGirl…
The music industry's discovered pot of gold delicately holds the originality and firey vocals of Audra, Brave, Lyndriette & Seven: RichGirl.
With Destiny’s Child’s heartbreaking farewell in 2005 and Danity Kane’s abrupt and unexpected end, new and vibrant life needed to be breathed into the idea of the “girl group.” The entertainment world was falling short on the talent and energy to create and maintain a standard-setting, groundbreaking female group. It seemed as though the vibrancy of SWV, En Vogue, TLC, Destiny’s Child, and other chart-topping female groups had faded away, never to return.
Thank heavens for one of the music industry’s heavy hitters, Rich Harrison (Richcraft Records) who is known for his eclipsing hits such as “Crazy In Love” (Beyonce) and “One Thing” (Amerie). Songwriter and producer, Harrison discovered a breath of innovation, enthusiasm and freshness in a brand new band. As chosen by Harrison, four young women from different walks of life became a collective, multi-talented entity. Their name: RichGirl. Though the band’s members have distinctly different life experiences, a few things remains constant for the four young ladies – their originality, hunger for success, and absolute passion for their craft.
RichGirl consists of Audra, from California; Brave, from Maryland; Lyndriette, from North Carolina; and Seven, from Florida. However, these bright-eyed beauties don’t want you to be fooled by the name.
“‘RichGirl’ is more like a metaphor that embodies so many things,” says Brave. “Spirituality… We’re rich in life. We’re rich in love. It has nothing to do with materialistic [things] or wealth.”
“Everyone has RichGirl potential,” Audra also mentions in the group’s introductory video blog.
Though they are currently recording their yet-to-be-titled freshman album, these Richcraft Records (Rich Harrison’s label) and Jive Records artists have released a few songs that have already begun a buzz. The single “He Ain’t Wit Me Now (Tho)“ speaks to every woman’s need to let loose, kick back and have fun. With it’s driving bass and explosive vocals, this track has become a favorite among YouTubers nationwide. The club banger, “24s,“ explodes with a tough beat and verse from rapper Bun B. and showcases each RichGirl member’s equally unique and powerful vocal ability. All four members share the spotlight which is something that many YouTube fans have come to love about the group. The equality of the group proves to be real as they find time to show the world who they are by posting personal and fun-filled vlogs (video blogs) on their official website and their RichGirlVideos Youtube channel.
Check out their brand new music video “He Ain’t Wit Me Now (Tho)” which promises to be a 2009 summer anthem.
Their debut video can also be seen on MTV Jams, MTVU and MTV Hits.
“RICH is a state of mind. It’s the way you carry yourself,” is the heading atop the group’s Myspace page and it speaks to the down-to-earth nature of each member, truly wealthy in all facets of life, and eager to share this wealth with the rest of the world. We’re all ears.
