She moves us. Gina Loring
Poet, singer, activist, and actress Gina Loring's independent star is on the rise. With many accolades and much praise, she is taking the underground world of the arts by storm.
A breath of fresh air. One of the most invigorating wordsmiths of our contemporary society. Poetry in its sincerest form and a shining example of someone who does what she loves and loves what she does. Rump-shaking video “models” and blinged-out sellouts please step aside because this singing, rhyming, acting phenomenon is none other than the beautiful Gina Loring.
A Los Angeles native who splits her time between L.A and Atlanta, it’s no wonder that Ms. Loring possesses such musical talents. Gina Loring has been featured on two seasons of HBO’s Russell Simmons’ Def Poetry and BET’s Lyric Café, was a featured artist on The Brand New Heavies’ album “We Won’t Stop,” and has sat under the tutelage of artists such as Mos Def, Marla Gibbs and Pharoahe Monch.
Her 2008 independent debut album “The Git Back,” flows with introspective lyrics boasting the realness of someone who has experienced much in life and has grown as a result. The fusion of genres such as jazz, hip-hop, and R&B can be felt in each track, paying homage to both the old school and new.
According to a bio of the performer and activist, Ms. Loring seeks to follow in the footsteps of trailblazers like actress and activists, Ruby Dee and Lena Horne in “positively contributing through her art.” Having starred in the George C. Wolfe production of “The Colored Museum,” teaming up with P.Diddy in the “Rock The Vote” campaign, and becoming the first American hip-hop artist to perform in Kuwait, Ms. Loring has already begun positively contributing.
Her performance of “You Move Me,” on HBO’s Russell Simmons’ Def Poetry not only exposes her deepest feelings about the opposite sex but gives voice to many young women who’ve dealt with not having a father figure while growing up. She has journeyed along a road of untainted truth and is invading the world of the arts with the sweetest and most unyielding of sounds. Artists with whom she has worked sing her praises, speaking highly of her “God-given talent.“ These testimonials speak not only to Ms. Loring’s talents and accomplishments but also to her character and respect for her craft.
As rapper, Mos Def put it simply, “She’s lovely. She’s talented. She’s Gina Loring.”

This is a very well-written piece about a beautiful up and coming artist, who I will be keeping a watchful eye on. I love how real she is, and how well her body of work is defining the type of artist and person she seems to be!

this is exactly what Gina Loring makes you feel. When at a live performance it seems her mother birthed her on stage and she’s been there ever since, so natural and totally talented! Her voice and well rounded artistry reminds you of a song bird. Her album is bangin…and I’ve had it on constant rotation since i got it.
I got it at http://cdbaby.com/cd/ginaloring
